“A short documentary about Sam and Jean, my grandparents, learning to live apart after more than 60 years together.
On the day of their 66th wedding anniversary, Jean had a stroke, and since then has moved into a care facility, and out of the home she shared with Sam for almost 60 years. Sam spends his days in their home, watching films on TV. Jean is mostly left alone at the retirement home, and she spends her time reading books, sleeping, and wondering why she's still alive.
Using footage shot by the Sandler family between the 1950s-2015, the film delves into the couples past and explores their lives at this new and difficult juncture.”

“The film explores white fragility, the artistic process, and the ways conversations about race exist in intimate white spaces. The character played by Hannah states, “the film is about how we talk about certain things and we avoid talking about other things.”

“Hermann Goering’s art dealer, Bruno Lohse, prospered by selling stolen art for decades after WWII, while Jewish families struggled to regain their paintings and memories. Exposing Lohse’s story along with the experiences of Jewish families whose lives he irrevocably changed, Plunderer reveals the failures of post-war justice and the continuing complicity of governments and the art trade.”
